Hmmm....: Tumor means growth. Brain tumors are usually within the brain structures and not outside the skull. Some of us have cysts, calcium deposits on our scalp and a good clinician can help you and your family to decipher what is going on. Do have a doc take a look at what it is you are concerned about. Best wishes!

For the pathologist: When the tumor is removed from the skull by the neurosurgeon, it may be soft, firm (seldom hard except for a few meningiomas), creamy-white, yellowish, pink, and/or with patches of red, usually as fragments. If removed at autopsy, meningiomas tend to be round like balls and firm, the others infiltrate the brain and may be softer or firmer.
