Can allergies make it hard to take a deep breath?

Yes,but don't ignore: Allergies can make you congested enough to make it hard to take a deep breath. However, if you feel like you can't catch your breath, go see your doctor. It might be more than allergies.

Yes - check location: Allergen-induced asthma or airway hyper-reactivity is a well known phenomenon, esp in young adults. If you have poorly controlled upper airway allergic symptoms, see an allergist to get checked for possible asthma (lung function testing, feno in addition to thorough history and physical exam). Are you referring to the lower airways (w.R.T. Inability to take a deep breath)?

Yes...: Allergies can lead to bronchospasm which makes it difficult to breathe. Treatment includes a bronchodilator and steroid inhaler to treat bronchospasm and inflammation. See your doctor for treatment.
