If i am taking fludac and librax (clinidium and chlordiazepoxide) , does it indicate that i am having irritable bowel syndrome or some other illness?

Dr. Alvin Lin answered

Doubtful but . . .: Fludac is sold outside of states as a brand of fluoxetine which is used for many things (http://www.Drugs.Com/international/fluoxetine.Html), chief among them depression. Librax (clinidium and chlordiazepoxide) is a combination of Chlordiazepoxide & clidinium. Former is a benzodiazepine which is typically used for anxiety while latter cuts down on stomach acid & intestinal spasm which could be ibs. Best to ask doc why prescribed.

Meds vs diagnosis: Dr. Lin has shared excellent info about these medications. However, diagnosis cannot be inferred from medications alone. Are you having bowel issues? Symptoms of depression? (poor appetite, sleep, energy, and interest in usually enjoyed activities; sad mood; etc). It's always good to ask your physician about medications being prescribed, and about diagnoses. Best wishes to you.
