Cultured? drained?: If the boil has not been cultured I do not know how they can say with certainty that it is not mrsa. That being said MRSA does tend to make more painful and rapidly increasing lesions. Interestingly, just draining them can frequently be adequate treatment however if antibiotics are not used then they do tend to recur.
