Pain type for kidney: Dull pain in upper back, that is one-sided ache, particularly if accompanied by fever and urinary symptoms causes kidney pain. This may due to kidney infection (pyelonephritis).Kidney stones do cause pain, stones usually painless as long as they remain in kidney, but movement out hurts. When stone passes through ureter on its way to your bladder it causes waves of sharp intermittent intense pain.
