I've been experiencing pain on my left side of my chest and breast and it radiates to my back. my doctor said it wasn't cancerous, what can it be?

Several things: Costochondritis or inflammation of anterior ribs and strained muscles can cause pain. Obviously cardiac issues occur in this region. Referred pain from below diaphragm such as gaseous distention of splenic flexure of colon , stomach distention , ge reflux, and pancreatitis. In the chest pleuritis, infammation of lining of left lung and pulmonary inflammatory process within the left lung possible.
