See answer: Over years, tonsils can get 'tonsilar crypts' or essentaillly craters in them like 'craters in the moon.' this allows for food debirs to often get stuck in the tonsilar crypts (one of the most common causes of halitosis [bad breath]). Gargles can help and trying to chew your food well with fluids to help wash down, but if it becomes a real problem, then surgical removal/tonsils can be done.

Tonsillalith : It looks like you have tonsillalith or tonsil stone. Tonsil stones are collections of debris from the death cells, salivary sediments, and bacteria in the tonsillar crypts. There are about 10 - 20 crypts in each tonsil. It can give bad breath due to bacterial growth or causing tonsillar exudates or abscesses. Gargle with saline water regularly to try to clean it out. Tonsillectomy is the treatment.
