My daughter has a large throid. her blood test came back normal. should i still be worried and ask for an ultrasound and additional testing?

Maybe US: Blood tests would show normal thyroid function.Multinodular goiter i another cause of thyroid gland enlargement. Ultrasound would be useful to characterize gland. If nodule larger than 1.5 cm are usually biopsied to make sure not malignant . Dr. Should palmate gland.

Blood test:: Usually for thyroid hormone levels; normal levels do not exclude thyroiditis - that's diagnosed by anti-thyroid antibodies, the next step. Ultrasound is also a good idea.
