Several reasons: Distension of gall bladder usually diagnosed by ultrasound.Distended gall bladder may mean abnormality, but often is related to how long patient fasted before the study.The longer the fast the more distended the gall bladder.Food ingestion causes gb to contract.If symptomatic hida study would determine gall bladder function. Physician has to correlate blood tests and imaging for proper diagnosis.
