No: Rabies in america is mostly from wild animals like the bat, raccoon, fox etc. And some domestic dogs that are not vaccinated. I am not aware of rabies from cat scratch. However, if you are scratched by a kitty, beware of cat scratch disease then. Hope that you are healthy.

Not likely: Rabies from a cat bite is not common. I have never heard of rabies from a cat scratch, although it could happen. Rabies could theoretically be acquired from handling infected animals. Rabies is more likely acquired from rabid bats, foxes, or skunks than cats.
