No: Rabies does not appear in domesticated animals unless they 've been exposed to wild rabid animals. Would be more concerned about scratch infection so keep area clean and consider antibiotic ointment. See your doctor if extensive redness and swelling occur

PROBABLY NOT: Domesticated cats and dogs are at low risk for transmission. But, as a famous ex-president said-"trust and verify." Have the owner show you proof of vaccinations.
