See your DDS: Root canal treatment is a process to reduce the bacterial load in the tooth to a level conducive to healing. The purpose of the packing is to control the environment within the tooth. If the packing came out bacteria are reintroduce into the root canal space. Call your dds as soon as possible to avoid complications. Try to keep the area clean and don't chew on the effected tooth.
