Once or twice: Most ophthalmologists will only do lasik once. With lasik, a flap is created in your cornea to perform the procedure. Most docs will not make a second flap. Sometimes lasik patients do require a touch-up procedure. This means lifting the flap up and doing the touch-up if possible or doing prk type surgery over the original flap, not cutting the cornea again.

Sometimes: Dr. Witlin's answer is correct. If the surgeon has done the original flap & is aware of its integrity it can be lifted up. If the lasik was done by another doctor & its recent (several months) i like to refer them back to the same surgeon. We do not know the integrity of the flap (tears or button holes. If the lasik is over 1year old most surgeons never lift another mds flap and do prk over it.
