A member asked:

How does a cytotec (misoprostol) work in your womb?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cytotec (misoprostol): Mifepristone, an antiprogesterone, binds to the Progesterone receptor to block the receptor, thus inhibiting Progesterone from binding.Mifepristone also softens and dilates the cervix, causes decidual necrosis (which leads to placental detachment), increases uterine lining prostaglandin release, increases uterine contractions.
