Can an inguinal hernia cause urinary issues?

Yes, especially: If part of the bladder is incarcerated in the hernia sac. More commonly, prostate hyperplasia can cause you to strain at urination, worsening the hernia condition. Have your surgeon take a look at your hernia.

Unusual: It can, but usually only if it is large, AND contains the bladder. Best to get a consultation from a surgeon interested in hernia repair - you can find one at the Americas Hernia Society website. Hope this helps!
