Can you have cataract surgery if you take plavix (clopidogrel) or aspirin?

Yes: In most instances, it is not necessary to stop Aspirin or Plavix (clopidogrel) for routine cataract surgery. Best to consult directly with your surgeon about this.

Probably: This is surgeon dependent but you can probably have it using topical anesthesia. Of course, you will be at much greater risk of the white part if your eye turning red--nothing more than the eye equivalent of a bruise. Looks bad but will go away. If you can stop it temporarily and it's ok'd by your pcp or cardiologist, that's even better!
