Cerebral palsy: Cerebral is not considered a genetic disorder. It is a result of a damaging event before birth involving the placenta, occlusioon of the umbilical cord or infection. There is a minority of cases due to events that occur during the labor or delivery.

Cerebral Palsy: Not genetic. CP is due to a brain injury that can occur for a sundry of reasons. It is considered a "static encephalopathy" in that the injury occurred and it is not progressive.
