What is the correct position for holding a brand new baby?

No one position: You can hold a newborn in many ways - remember, they've usually spent the past few months upside down bouncing around in a uterus. The big thing is support of the head in whichever position you choose. It can be holding upright, cradled in your arms, or in a 'football' hold tucked under your side. They usually love a variety of positions!

Safely: Holding a baby often comes naturally and the most important part is to support the head as it is heavy and will flop around...So cradling a baby and supporting the head. If holding baby up to your shoulder again our hand sould be available to be sure the head dosn't flop back.
