A member asked:

Can you still have normal bowel movements abd have colon cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Colon cancer can be asymptomatic. The recommendations from the american cancer society include a colonoscopy at the age of 50 even if you have no symptoms. Followup colonoscopy is then based on whether polpys are found. In patients with a family history of colon cancer, the recommendation is for earlier screening, usually 10 years prior to the age thecancer was diagnosed in the family member.
