Not usually: A doctor may do a rectal exam to check for the presence of hidden blood in your stool if you are a heavy drinker, since such drinking may result in bleeding from the stomach or upper GI tract. That is the only thing that i could think of. Otherwise, it would not be a usual part of your care. I hope they referred you for some help, and that you obtain some to deal with your alcohol/drug problems.
