It depends: A number of factors can affect bone healing- how badly fractured it is, whether it is still in alignment, what the treatment is, and if you smoke, drink a lot of soda and/or caffeine, among other factors. Usually, a time frame of 4-6 weeks is needed.

For a child how long does a fracture in the big toe take to heal?

4-6 weeks: That is the "normal" time range, but kids tend to heal faster. If there really is a fracture, it's best to get an x-ray and make sure there is not any joint involvement. The big toe joints are really important in walking and running!

Pain is worse : For a few days, followed by 6-8 weeks for healing. After a few days the worst pain usually is gone and it just aches with deep breathing and certain motions and many dont need pan meds. It is important to make sure you are getting a good deep breath and dont develop other issue and to determine the cause or quality of the break with xrays .....Just dont assume.

How long does it usually take a radial fracture to heal?

Dr. Eon Shinanswered

8 weeks: The healing time depends on the location and severity of the fracture. For non-displaced fractures of the radius near the wrist, it will often take 6-8 weeks for fractures to heal and then an additional 4 weeks for the bones to re-model and attain their maximal strength. Discuss your fracture with a hand surgeon to characterize the healing time.
