Exposure: It means that you have been exposed to echinococcus- the dog tape worm. If it is an igm antibody, it means a recent exposure. If it is just igg antibody, then it means you have been exposed to it sometime in the past.

Echinococcus infections are can be caused by tape worms such as E. granulosus, E. vogeli or E. multilocularis. It is usually transmitted to humans from food contaminated by the feces of infected dogs, sheep or goats. Symptoms vary by which organ(s) are effected & may include abdominal pain, cysts in liver, chest pain or coughing bloody mucus. Having an antibody means exposure to it.
