Back/Tailbone Pain: The back or lumbar spine is made up of 5 vertebra and their adjacent discs. The lowest disc is connected to the sacrum and the coccyx (tailbone) is connected to the sacrum. It is possible for someone with back pain to develop tailbone pain because they are contiguous structures. It is also possible that a structure (nerve, disc, soft tissue) is irritated in the low back and causing coccyx pain.
