Tonsil growth: There are several types of tonsil growths that are not cancers. Each can be different. One of the most common is a mucocele. This has a very smooth ball-like appearance that is yellow or tan in color. Other tonsil growths will simply look like the tonsil is simply bigger. Cancerous growths of the tonsils will look like it has multiple heads or a crater or ulcer with an "angry" appearance.
