Possibly: This is possible, since lots more people are exposed to this organism in freshwater than ever are infected/become ill. It's a very rare infection, and usually occurs in the summer months when people are swimming in warm freshwater lakes.It's not yet known why a few become infected, and most others do not. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19845995.
