A member asked:

Can you get naegleri fowleri from picking your nose?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No, unless...: Nose-picking can lead to nosebleeds, to people in an adjacent car staring at you, or to friends running away in horror, but won't give you Naegleria meningoencephalitis... unless you happen to be pickin' while in warm freshwater environments such as lakes, ponds and rivers (especially in the southern U.S.); or in geothermal hot water such as hot springs; or rarely in other places if truly unlucky.
