Yes, because: One never knows for sure what was removed until microscopic exam is done. And a small percentage of them can become malignant, liposarcoma, depending on size and location.

It depends: If these are removed in a hospital or or hospital outpatient surgery, most would be sent to pathology. With multiple, small lipomas, the chance of malignancy is very low. Risk does decent on the site, so the surgeon needs to use clinical judgement on which ones to send for microscopic evaluation.
