A member asked:

My mother has surgery today for a lipoma. she contacted a could about 2 days ago and it still is there. she refuses to call the doctor ahead of time. will they still do the surgery or will they postponse send her home? is she at rish for pneumonia

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lipoma removal is: usually done with local anesthesia. Unless your mother has fever or shortness of breath (or if she needs to be put to sleep), the surgery can proceed as scheduled. This surgery will not increase her risk for pneumonia. Best wishes to you and your mom. Dr. Anne.
