Does optic neuritis ever get mistaken from glaucoma?

Hopefully not: Optic neuritis and glaucoma, in there end stages, could resemble each other. They occur in completely different ways, however. Glaucoma (chronic open angle) is slowly progressive, usually without symptom or apparent visual loss until late, and usually in older people. Optic neuritis usually has an acute loss of vision with subsequent recovery in younger people, and there may be pain.

Rarely: There are some aspects of these two diseases that are similar, but it is fairly simple for an ophthalmologist to differentiate these.
