HCG : Is found at some amount in any pregnancy. In an ectopic pregnancy the baby plants in the tube instead of the uterus. As it grows and stretches the tube it causes pain. If not found the tube will burst and needing will start and the mom can die. It is not possible for this baby to live.

Variable: May or may not increase but if it increases will not be a normal increase which is doubling of the HCG every 3 days, or stay the same also the Progesterone level is usually very low with an ectopic and once the beta is more than about 2200 should be able to see something inside the uterus.
