Not typically: Tinnitus during a procedure done under sedation may likely be related to absorption of local anesthetics. Ringing in the ears and/or a metallic taste in the mouth may be an early sign of high systemic local anesthetic concentrations. Sedatives by themselves are not known to cause tinnitus.
