See Rheumatologist: A 37 Y.O. Foreign female with #fibromyalgia (fm) has relatives who doubt. Fm is transcultural ; in about 4% all populations. Dearth of patients in a geographical region represents under diagnosis, not absence of the disorder. Rheumatology specialists are often sympathetic, knowledgeable, ; can provide persuasive authority. Imo, multiple childbirths seem to beget this cursed disorder in females.

Fibromyalgia: Ignorance, generally speaking, is what makes people say it doesn't exist. Things that are not readily diagnosable, out of the western world medical mainstream, or that have gotten a great deal of press as a "vogue diagnosis" aggravate this tendency. It doe not make fibro any less real to the sufferer.
