Check the: instructions that came with that home pregnancy test. Most of the time - HPT's change color to show a positive result.

1 week: You can do a pregnancy test 1 week from last intercourse. If negative then chances of being pregnant are pretty small.

See ob/gyn: A home pregnancy test turns positive usually one week after your missed menstrual cycle. You are currently not having a menstrual cycle because of anovulation. There are many causes for this and you should be seen by an ob/gyn.

A 18-year-old female asked:
When is an hpt 100% correct?

No test is 100% : By hpt, i assume you mean home pregnancy test. Statistically speaking, there is no test that is 100% correct 100% of the time. We're just happy to get 90+% sensitivity (positive test when you have condition) & specificity (negative result when you don't) when used properly as directed. But you can get false positive if guy takes hpt but you'd know to ignore result. Be sure to use test at right tim.

FDA approved: Any of the fda approved tests are equally good. You should test the first morning urine about two weeks after the missed period for an accurate result.

When is an hpt 100% accurate?

Can be after 6-12 d,: This can vary but the hpt tests can be accurate at 6-12 days after fertilization which is around the time when implantation occurs. There is the possibility of false negatives if done earlier. The rosette inhibition assay for early pregnancy factor (epf) can be done 48 hours after fertilization, but is costly and llong. U/s also done. See your doctor for more.
