Loss of early: pregnancy. Blood test becomes positive sooner than hpt and may be positive before missed period. About 25% of early pregnancies are lost, usually due to chromosomal defects in the embryo. Often the only manifestation is a delayed heavy period. The term chemical pregnancy is some times used for this situation.
