Does dental infection pain get worse before it gets better?

Sometimes: The issue is that dental infection requires intervention to resolve. It won't really get better despite occasional reduction in symptom severity. If you have a dental infection get it treated by a dentist sooner rather than later to have a better outcome.

Seriously?: Pain or discomfort can be caused by dental infection. Your question is relative and kind of silly. Go see you dentist and the dentist will treat you and tell you what to expect.

Sometimes: When an infection is present, and an antibiotic is prescribed, it can take hours before the antibiotic begins to 'work'. Depending on the severity of the infection, the amount of antibiotic in your system will make a difference into how long it is before you experience pain relief. Therefore, it will take longer for pain relief the more advanced the infection is. Keep smiling !

Yes, if: Yes, if not treated. If treated with antibiotics and not better after 24 hours, call dentist. In that case, you may need different antibiotic, tooth extraction or root canal.

A tooth infection: is a painful collection of infected pus and won't go away without treatment. See a dentist before it gets worse.
