I understand during a depressive episode you could be a risk to yourself. but why are some people sectioned whilst on a manic episode?

Risky behavior: A manic episode often elicits behaviors that have a high potential for negative consequences, e.g. Reckless driving, sexual indiscretions, drug use, etc. When these are present, a person can be a risk to themselves and others.
