I had severe manic depression, in remission without 25 years. can taking short term steroids during high stress time cause relapse?

Sometimes: Corticosteroids can precipitate mania in some individuals as can stress. On the other hand 25 years of stability would decrease the likelihood. If you are having symptoms please contact your psychiatrist.

Yes: Short-term use of steroids can cause mania like side effects even in those without any manic-depressive illness history.

Steroids: Steroids can affect the moods in predisposed individuals who had history of mood swings and are not on medications to stabilize the moods.
