Don't panic: Panic attacks can precede an affective disorder like depression or generalized anxiety. It is common for anxious and depressed individuals to become body-focused and interpret physical symptoms as potentially dire, when it is the perception of the symptom that can be addressed first. To ease your mind, start with a physical exam, including blood work. If ok seek out a therapist and go from there.

Panic Attacks: I agree with dr. Dobbeck's observations & suggestions. Actually one area of panic disorder symptoms is feeling you're dying. Physical symptoms can also involve chest pressure or pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea, etc -- any of which can also be experienced with heart problems. Good treatments are available -- both talk therapies & medications can help. Ask your doctor.
