Oral: Most patients do well with a Dilaudid patient controlled analgesia (pca), or morphine. Both those medications can be given as IV push as well.

PCA: Patient-controlled analgesia (pca) is a method of allowing a person in pain to administer their own pain medication with preset parameters from doctors. It's a good option for IV medication after c-section. There are several medications that can be used in pca pump, like morphine, Dilaudid and fentanyl.
