I am 39 & looking to get pregnant for the first time. my mother has hashimoto's & i suspect i might be hypothyroid. should i be tested for this & get treated before conception? is treatment safe?

Hypothyroid: If you have symptoms suggestive of hypothyroidism, with your family history, you should be tested, treatment with thyroid medicine is safe during pregnancy, if required.

Yes and yes.: Hypothyroidism can interfere with getting pregnant. The treatment is with the same hormone that hypothyroid people don't make enough of, and simply brings them back to where they should have been in the first place.
