Yes, elevate: Since you have back pain, make sure you are bent at the knees with pillows lengthwise under lower leg and foot. If it important for first three days to elevate, sometimes even longer. The more you elevate the less swelling and therefore less pain. I generally tell patients to stay off foot, keep clean and dry when there are bottom of foot sutures...This is usually for about three weeks.
