I have some spotting and small clots but i am not on my cycle. what can be the cause, i have been under some stress. could that be a factor?

Stress is not likely: Adding to your irregular bleeding. It's probably related to irregular ovulation. I would recommend you see your gyn. Over age 35 with your type of bleeding warrants evaluation of the uterine lining to ensure there is no precancerous abnormalities. I do many biopsies and it is rare at your age to have that problem so don't panic. Other causes include uterine fibroids or infection. Gd luck.
