What could cause a painful popping sensation between my hip and thigh (groin area) while walking?

Tendons: Popping is usually tendons and ligaments slipping over bones. Could also be your hip socket popping in and out. Because it is painful have it evaluated.

Painful: You should get checked out by a doctor. Fracture is unlikely since you are able to walk but you should be examined to make sure there is no fracture.
