Whats a safer comtraceptive: the implant or the iud?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Equally safe: Both of those contraceptives are equally safe. They are different however. In truth you have 3 options: 1) implant; 2) iud with Progesterone and ;3) iud without progesterone. Given that they are equally safe, i would make decision on whether you wanted Progesterone or not? Also time frame. The implant is good for 3 yrs, the Mirena (levonorgestrel) for 5 yrs, and the copper iud for 10 years. Lots to think of!
