Depends on size: Many lipomas are easy to remove and could be done by a dermatologist, plastic surgeon, general surgeon, family practioner or other doctor who regularly does this kind of surgery. However, sometimes they can be wrapped around tendons, nerves or other important structures. I think this would be more likely in areas like the forearm or wrist.

Surgeon: Lipomas are very common benign tumors that are usually located just under the skin, but may be as deep as the muscle layer. Many different surgical specialists are trained to perform this operation, including general surgeons, plastic surgeons, and hand surgeons.
