How normal would it be for my left kidney to be sore after an iodine injection for a ct scan?

No: If there is a blockage of the kidney's urine drainage the the increased urine flow from the contrast injection can provoke grater distension of the renal collecting system which could well cause soreness. Let your doctor know about this to check for any compromise of your urinary drainage from a stone or ureteral stricture.
