Depends: 18 is usually the youngest we like to place crowns, but if there was no other option, it can be ok. A future problem can be that the gums recede and the crowns may need to be replaced with longer crowns. You do not indicate why crowns were placed. If it was because of decay, you need to be extra diligent with your home care to prevent further care.

Probably yes: I like to wait until full growth is completed and the eruption process is complete. Some people can begin treatment at 17 but most i'll wait until 18 or 19. Females can begin earlier than males.
