Don't recommend: Weights around the ankles while walking can place abnormal stress/ possibly hurt your knees. These weights are primarily meant to use in specific movements for muscle groups while stationary, .

Yes: It is much better to use hand weights or a weight vest than ankle weights.

I would be more: Concerned with your knees. Just make sure you can handle the amount of weight you are using and don't do anything to strenuous.
