Antibiotics: Sounds like you have an active infection. Sometimes after a root canal is started you can get an infection so you need to call your dentist asap for antibiotics and if he can see you take out the temp filling and leave the cotton to drain. If he's not available you can get a needle and pick out the temp filling to let it drain- it won't affect what's been done but give you relief.

Go see your dentist: If your dentist is unable to get you out of pain, ask for a referral to an endodonitst, and see what he thinks. Perhaps there is another canal that needs to be cleaned out, perhaps, there is still tissue in the canals he did clean. Perhaps you need to be on antibiotics if there is a swelling or a fever, perhaps you need to be on steroids as an anti-inflammatory?

NO: Pain medication is not very effective sometimes especially in severe pain. Your dentist may increase the doses. However if severe pain does not subside you should go back asap to continue treatment.

Root canal pain: Not sure what 'get it finished' means. If it was not completed you probably still have an active infection. You should not be trying to treat this pain yourself. Call or visit your dentist asap, or see an endodontist (root canal specialist). He/she will provide you with the proper treatment for pain relief.
