Depends on the stone: Depending on the chemical composition of the stone (such as calcium oxalate), lemon juice might help slightly, but probably not enough to dissolve the stone. If the stone is made of uric acid, lemon juice won't help. You may need lithotripsy (shock waves) or a cystoscopy to manually remove the stone if it doesn't eventually pass. If the stone is blocking the ureter, it could damage the kidney.

Passing Stones: Lemon juice for certain patients can help prevent stone formation but really will not help in passage. I agree that significant hydration is important, your doctor should also add tamulosin to help facilitate the process.
